Yoga - the Barriers to Entry

For both underweight and overweight disordered eating sufferers, we know that yoga can be extremely helpful to their recovery process. But there are some inherent dangers with the mainstream approach:

»Competitive classes that focus on fitness and body shape have a negative effect on those with obsessive eating and exercise disorders

»The fear of standing out / not being able to do the moves / being too unfit are big fears for obese and overweight people.

We believe yoga is for everyone! With the right teacher and within the right environment, disordered eating sufferers can experience huge benefits (physical, mental and psychological).

We encourage those of all shapes and sizes to experience yoga’s transformative effects. We provide a supportive environment in which individual needs are honoured
